Final Fantasy Xiv Online Nintendo Switch

Hello Anybody!

I loved playing Concluding Fantasy XIV on my PS4 simply sadly my PS4 stopped working earlier this year and as it was the only game I actually played on it, it hasn't been a huge priority for me rush and get a new one, particularly while already owning a Nintendo Switch. The new expansion has me mulling over that idea more than ever but I would be lying if there wasn't this part of me that has secretly been hoping for an proclamation of the new expansion marking the release of FFXIV for Switch as I would immediately buy the game and resubscribe. Which had me wondering if it were even possible.

I know some games like RE: Biohazard and Assassinator's Creed Odyssey take Cloud versions in Japan and that could be ane way of expanding the game to the Switch merely I would beloved to see the full game come over personally. From what I sympathise the PS3 version was axed because of an consequence of memory and not CPU/GPU issues, and so that might bode well for it in the future. Besides games like Fortnite now having cross platform play show that Sony isn't completely against softening that border for the right game.

There was a report back on VGR this summer quoted to have said "Discussions are nevertheless 'ongoing' with all iii publishers – Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo – to run across if the game can come up to Xbox One and Switch with cross-play with the PC and PS4 versions. Yoshida noted he 'hopes to denote something as soon every bit we can.'" A lot of this could obviously exist merely PR talk for "stop asking" but I'd similar to trust Yoshida with truly not leaving any option unturned when it comes to spreading the game and fanbase to as many people as possible.

So I started thinking about how awesome it would be to play FFXIV wherever/whenever I wanted and how the experience may need to exist "simplified" to run on a mobile system. In that location are a couple of things that are overly PC based in concept and usability that work on PS4 but aren't perfect for gamepads. With this in mind I started to make some concepts of what it might play like.

The Controls

First, let's get over controls. Not a huge difference, Switch has dissimilar A/B Button placement and then I mapped those to fit meliorate. I also moved the Map to the Minus push button on the left Joy-Con. I also have the Card on the Plus push to mirror the map. Of grade, if Yoshida wanted to Actually become all out, they could too add touch screen controls for things like Hotbars that flank the left/correct edges of the screen, elevate and driblet handing off/equipping items, etc, etc. About of these are basic and the touchscreen options would be really prissy in handheld manner but not really transfer to docked mode as well. The terminal affair I would want to come across is some kind of virtual gyro mouse pointer... don't do that.

The Carte

This was the bigger issue to prepare for me. Aye, PS4/Gamepad fashion has the offset menu but diverse windows that pile up for Currency, Character, Actions & Traits, Minions, Companions, Inventory, and so on and so on work great on PC. They are okay on something like PS4 with a large enough Television receiver but playing on the Switch'south smaller 7-inch screen would be horrendous. And then I tried to come upward with a concept of what a unified bill of fare screen for all of these items may look like. I consolidated some things like Inventory, Key Items, Minions, and Armory Breast under single tabs with sub tabs underneath. This is of grade just a rough draft and proof of concept so there may be some things missing but I recall this is pretty usable for not but the Switch's small display but for even other consoles sitting away from the TV on the couch.

I'one thousand working on some best practices of changes I think should exist preset for the HUD for usability on small displays but I wanted to present this to the FFXIV customs and go feedback on the concept. Any comments or feedback would be greatly appreciated!
